Strehana shows people and rooms in one feed, one card at a time. The order is set automatically by the rules below. We do not sell a higher place in the organic order; the only paid position is separate and always marked.
1. What is not shown at all (filters)
These are hard filters: a card that fails them is not shown.
- Area. We only show cards and rooms in the places you chose. For a neighbourhood or a city that means the place's own boundaries; for a single point, a circle around it.
- Room price. Rooms above the maximum price you set are not shown.
- Your other filters (flatmates by gender, non-smokers only, move-in date). We hide only a card that contradicts them. A card that has not said is kept and labelled «not stated». «Non-smokers only» applies to people only when you are signed in.
- People to search together with. If you are looking for a room, we show only people who are open to searching together. If you have a room listed, we show everyone looking for a room.
- People's budgets. A seeker's budget is not a filter for another seeker. If you have a room listed, we do not show seekers whose budget is below half your rent, and a price you set becomes a floor for their budget.
- Exclusions. You never see your own card, profiles you blocked or that blocked you, or cards you already passed or liked. A card you have seen does not come back; a card that was only loaded but not shown may reappear after about an hour.
2. The order
Among the cards that pass the filters, the order is:
- 1. People who have already liked you, and rooms whose host has already invited you. Answering them is a match, so they come first. Such a person is shown even when one of your filters above (area, budget, date, gender, smoking) does not fit them, because they have already seen your card and liked it. If you pass them they do not return; if you only saw them, they may return once a day.
- 2. How well the card fits your filters. A card that confirmed everything comes before one that left something unstated.
- 3. How close you are. For people: how close their budget is to yours (or to your room's rent) and how close their move-in date is to yours, within a 60-day window. For rooms: how close the rent is to your budget. We compare in steps, not exact numbers, so a small difference does not decide on its own.
- 4. Distance, in 2 km steps from the chosen place, nearest first.
- 5. How often the card has already been shown to all readers, in groups of five showings. Less-shown cards come earlier, so every card gets a chance.
- 6. How complete the person's profile is.
- 7. How new the card is.
Rooms and people alternate: roughly three rooms, then one person, when there are both. Choosing «Rooms» or «People» shows only that half.
3. The paid position
A promoted card or room takes a separate paid position: the second card in the feed, then every fourth (2nd, 6th, 10th...). The position exists only while there are paid listings that match your filters; otherwise an ordinary card fills it. A promoted card is marked as such wherever it appears. Payment does not change the order of ordinary cards and does not bypass your filters. A paid card you passed is not shown to you again.
4. Applications to your room
If you have a room listed, applications to it are listed newest first; an application with a paid priority («Boost») is at the top and marked.
5. Without an account
If you are not signed in we do not know whom you liked or saw, so the order starts at step 2, and the cards you passed are remembered only on your device.
6. What you can change
Your areas, price, move-in date and other filters, the «Rooms» or «People» choice, and your own card, which we compare budget and date against. Whom to like, pass or invite is always your decision; the automatic order only decides what is shown first.
